Aune Head Arts:

  • works primarily in rural contexts, particularly within the boundaries of Dartmoor National Park
  • exhibits work in urban as well as rural centres
  • exhibits work to all kinds of audiences in all kinds of venues, particularly non-art venues
  • works with professional contemporary artists from across the UK
  • trains and mentors younger professional and pre-professional artists who wish to work within a contemporary art framework
  • encourages and supports cross-artform working, and is particularly interested at the intersection between performing and fine arts
  • works closely, and collaboratively, with communities
  • does not dumb down or make work accessible for the sake of it
  • does not make work that is deliberately or obtusely obscure - the work we make speaks to its audiences without compromising its artistic quality
  • uses the arts to develop and nurture understanding about rural life, without necessarily always working with artists whose work is primarily political or content-driven
  • remains flexible, works collaboratively, and encourages others to do the same
  • strives to make work that is driven by the communities in which we are working
  • is non-hiearchical in its management structures
