We make our equipment available to artists at subsidised rates, either for use at home / in the field, or in our studio. In order to take advantage of these rates, our insurance requires that you are a current AHA member, so the cost of membership (£8/£5) is added to your first rental. This will cover you for the rest of the calendar year. This subsidised service is available to bone fide professional artists, and is not intended for commercial use. If you are an artist who is undertaking commercial work, we will offer special "commercial work" rates, which are still significantly below market rate. This is intended to benefit you as a practicing artist, not to undermine the existing commercial studios and equipment hirers in the area. These rates assume that you already know how to use the equipment, at least in principle. We can provide limited introductory training (no more than half an hour) to orient you to the studio, but otherwise you are on your own, with some support at the end of a telephone. However, we will provide one-to-one training for £200 per day. The Bellever Studio
The Bellever Studio is located at one of the most beautiful and tranquil places on Dartmoor, and is an idyllic place to work if you need some concentrated quiet time.
The studio is set up for editing video around the Final Cut Studio suite (Final Cut Pro, DVD Studio Pro, Soundtrack Pro, etc.) It is possible to edit HD, although we do not yet have HD monitoring or HD source decks (upgrade due in 2008). The studio include a DV source deck, so you do not need to bring your own camera. The studio is based around a 3-monitor setup, with a separate video monitor, and Genelec audio monitors. It is a STEREO studio, although it possible to arrange 5.1 SURROUND mixing if you require it. For a detailed spec, go here. If you are working with audio, Logic Pro is available, with Soundtrack Pro used as a secondary programme. If you want to use ProTools, this can be arranged, although we are not primarily setup for ProTools (at the moment). There is a fully-weighted 88-key hammer action keyboard, and isolation dividers so that you can do voiceovers or simple recording. The studio however is not setup as a full recording studio, but is primarily an edit suite. RENTAL COSTS: The Bellever Studio rents for £60 per day at the artist rate, and £85 per day for artists engaged in a commercial project or who have funding for studio time. This includes a half-hour orientation to the studio on your first day, and limited telephone support. If you require an engineer to work the studio for you, or training to use the component parts of the studio, both are available at an additional £200 per day. If you wish to work more than four days, then a weekly rate of £240 / £340 will be charged. If you wish to stay overnight, then we can arrange a special package price including studio rental, a bed, with or without meals. There is a self-contained flat adjacent to the studio, which cen be booked pending availability.
