The Soundings project, part of the regional Reach initiative, is now completed and more information about the project will be posted here soon. The Reach initiative is part of an Arts Council England project where partnerships are forged between arts organisations and health partners. Aune Head Arts is leadng on the Devon project in partnership with Villages in Action. There is a short video outlining the regional project here.
In Milton Abbot and in Princetown, artist Sue Palmer worked with both elderly and young people in the village to collect sound pieces about their lives. We have also worked with artists Tony Walker in Milton Abbot, and Joff Winterhart in Princetown (recently runner up in the Observer 2009 Graphic Short Story Competition) who have been working with animation to develop a different creative approach to the project. Sue is now in the process of producing the final edits for these two communities and new work is being developed in Chudleigh by artists Jennie Hayes and Kate Green.
The project is due to finish in early summer of 2010, when we will contribute to a regional learning event about the project. If you’d like to hear the final programme, keep an eye on our website where we’ll let you know when it will be broadcast and where we’ll be posting some podcasts.

Soundings is a project of Aune Head Arts and Villages in Action and is part of the Reach regional arts and health project.
The project is working with a number of health partners, including Devon Older People's Mental Health Programme, Devon Partnership NHS Trust, North Devon Healthcare Trust, and Upstream Healthy Living Centre. The Reach regional project is also happening in Dorset, Somerset and Bristol and grew out of an initiative by Arts Council England.
