online form FAQ
How do I know my application / submission was successful?
Once the form has finished uploading, including any files that are part of your application / submission, you will get an acknowledgment that clearly states that your online form has been accepted. If you don't get this, or you get some kind of error message, try again.
What do I do if I get an error reported?
It usually means that there is a missing field - some required information has not been included in your information. However there are unfortunately quite a few other errors that can happen in transmission, and usually the only thing you can do is press the back button, carefully check the form, and try SUBMIT again.
What formats should I use for uploaded files?
Please use a standard format for any example files you send.
For CVs or other text files, this is WORD (.doc), TEXT (.txt or .rtf) and PDF (.pdf). Please don't use any other formats, particular things like Apple Works or Word Perfect. It's not reasonable to expect us to be able to read all kinds of non-standard formats. If you use a word processor other than Word, then save the file as a text file before you send it.
For VIDEO files, please use quicktime (.mov or .qt) MP4 and MP2 is also OK. We prefer not to receive WMP files.
For AUDIO files, please use any format that will play in quicktime: AIFF, SD2, MP3, MP4, etc. We can read pretty much any audio format.
For IMAGE files, please ONLY use PICT, JPEG, TIFF, or PDF.
HELP, I've lost all the information on my form. What do I do?
Online forms are slightly primitive beasts and it's not possible to save the information you have put in the field. Therefore we recommend ALWAYS that when filling in a complex form you first write the information in a word processor and then paste it into the form. That way if something goes wrong, you can always try again without having to re-write everything.
I just can't get the form to submit. What do I do? I'm going crazy!
Try submitting the form without attaching any files. It should then send almost immediately. Once you've done that, email the images directly.
If it doesn't, there's something wrong either at your end or at our end.
You can ring and tell us, but it's unlikely that we'll be able to diagnose and solve the problem over the phone, so INSTEAD copy the form into an email, and then fill in the questions there and just email it to us directly. Again, send the images/attachments separately. Email everything to ML-applications@auneheadarts.org.uk and label it MINING in the subject.
It still won't work. Now what?
In the worst case scenario, just print the lot out, put your files on a CD/DVD, and post it to us at the address shown on the application form.
Why do you insist on using online forms?
Because we are a small organisation with limited resources, and using the online form saves us a HUGE amount of time. If we didn't do it this way, we'd have to print everything out and make copies for each of the review panel members -- so doing it all online is much greener.
