Dartmoor Changes Dartmoor Changes was an 18-month project by Aune Head Arts to record all the ringable towers with 5 or more bells within the boundaries of Dartmoor National Park, in association with Andrew Stevens. A selection of the more than sixty hours of sound recordings has been edited onto 3 CDs, accompanied by a 24 page booklet of information about the project. (Go HERE for a map showing the location of all towers recorded.) As well as the bells, there are interviews with ringers and passersby, and a number of recordings of Dartmoor's more charming clock chimes. The project included a number of listening walks designed by project co-leader, Andy Stevens, and celebrates the very English, and very thriving, art of bell-ringing -- in particular call change ringing favoured in Devon and Cornwall. Dartmoor Changes culminated with a launch of the publication on August 6th 2005, at St Pancras, Widecombe-in-the-Moor, known as the "Cathedral of the Moor". "...A whole world is revealed here of a diverse sonorous, beautiful and ancient practice, methodical and mathematical, evocative and located. Thirty-two Dartmoor churches are included. Aune Head Arts are to be heartily congratulated for this remarkable project, which reaches to something vital in the long history of Dartmoor communities and their churches."
